Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Field Civil Engineer in St. George, UT, to take ownership of highway projects from start to finish. You will interpret design specs, coordinate change orders with the Resident Engineer, and support client relations while maintaining schedule and budget.

The role requires a BS in Civil Eng, EIT license, and 0-2 years of transportation experience; PE is a bonus. Proficiency in AutoDesk/Bentley and MS Office is expected; on-site work includes nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed EIT required; PE license a bonus
  • 0-2 years of experience in transportation engineering
  • Experience on multidisciplinary project teams
  • Solid background in AASHTO roadway design criteria
  • Proficiency with Autodesk and Bentley civil design software
  • Drainage design or traffic engineering experience is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub-consultant management

  • Availability to work onsite days, nights and weekends while projects are ongoing
  • Obtain certifications related to construction engineering management

Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 / year

What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Interpret and be able to read and understand design and specifications of aspects related to highways, freeways, interchanges, streets, intersections, and multiuse trails
  • Prepare, Justify, write and coordinate change orders with the Resident Engineer.Work under the direction of a Resident Engineer to lead the roadway Construction Projects. which would include: working with contractors to identify design issues, field design changes, measurements of quantities, RFI’s, Project schedule, review and accept submittals for material certifications. Also includes working closely with field inspectors to act as support due to unforeseen circumstances
  • Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub-consultant management
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish, with attention to quality, budget, and schedule
  • Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success
  • Availability to work onsite days, nights and weekends while projects are ongoing
  • Obtain certifications related to construction engineering management

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed EIT required, PE License a Bonus
  • 0-2 years of experience in transportation engineering

  • Proficiency using Autodesk and/or Bentley civil design software
  • Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment
