Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer to own projects from start to finish, delivering plans, calculations and reports. The role requires an A/Bachelors or higher in civil engineering, PE licensure or near-term licensure, and 3–8 years of progressive experience.

You will work with clients and teams to develop scopes, prepare plans for roadways, drainage, and utilities, and produce cost estimates and construction documentation.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering.
• 3–8 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within one year.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop project work plans and scopes of work.
• Prepare roadway, grading, drainage, water, and sewer plans.
• Produce design deliverables and technical reports.
• Prepare calculations, specs, and permits across jurisdictions.
• Model costs and provide engineer opinions of probable cost.
• Maintain communication with clients and teams.
• Conduct technical reporting and presentations.
• Coordinate construction observation with contractors
• Lead regular project meetings balancing needs and staffing

As a Professional Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Development of project work plans and scopes of work
• Prepare roadway, grading, drainage, water, and sewer plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Produce project deliverables including technical memoranda, design plans and specifications, and technical reports
• Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting in various jurisdictions
• Prepare construction cost models and engineer opinion of probable cost for projects through various stages of development, including due diligence to final construction document submittal for bidding
• Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams
• Technical Reporting and Presentations
• Construction Observation and Coordination with Construction Contractors
• Conduct regular meetings to ensure that project needs are balanced with staff availability

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year
• 3-8 years of progressive experience.
• A self-directed practitioner with project delivery skills
• Outstanding personnel skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
• Must be able to work effectively as a team member in a group environment and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients
• Organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Suite
• Experience with drainage and utility reports
• Experience working with both private or municipal clients
• Experience and understanding of local, regional, state, and federal policies, programs, and procedures
