Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Resident Electrical Field Service Engineer to act as the primary technical authority for ABB motors and drive systems at a major Corpus Christi facility. The role involves commissioning, troubleshooting, outage planning, and hands-on support with ABB motors and VFDs.

The position offers a predictable 2-weeks-on/2-weeks-off rotation, with a focus on hands-on electrical work, limited travel, and excellent earning potential.

Qualifications

• Senior-level Electrical Field Service Engineer with hands-on field experience
• Expertise with electric motors and VFDs in continuous-process plants
• Experience with ABB, Siemens, Rockwell/AB, and other OEM platforms
• Ability to troubleshoot, plan outages, and support commissioning in a rotating schedule

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance planning, pre-Outage, outage and post-Outage activities for ABB motors and VFDs
• Review maintenance activities for ABB motors at the plant
• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and drive system issues in an operating plant
• Interface with plant operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
• Perform diagnostics using OEM software tools and field instrumentation
• Interpret electrical schematics and OEM documentation
• Document activities, findings, and corrective actions
• Serve as on-site electrical technical expert during rotations
• Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
• Assess parts storage and make storage recommendations
• Inspect and review parts (new/used/refurbished) for completeness and condition
