Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum of six months supervisory experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds.
• Able to bend, stoop, squat and reach overhead.
• CPR certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• C.N.A. or Personal Care Aide certificate within 6 months of hire.
• 15-hour Medication Aide certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Complete Medication Aide check-off within 30 days of hire.
• Medication Aide certification within 60 days of check-off.
• No substantiated findings on NC Personnel Registry or Health Care Program.
• Clear SBI record throughout employment.
• Two-step TB test before hire and within two weeks of first test.
• Ability to make independent decisions when needed.
• Ability to work tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and agencies.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with staff.
• Ability to relate to and assist ill, disabled, elderly and hostile individuals.
• Maintain resident confidentiality and rights at all times.
• Available to assist in evacuations during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Follow facility policies on medication administration to residents.
• Note and report medication errors.
• Assist in developing procedures to identify and prevent medication errors.
• Complete administrative forms, charts and reports as required.
• Participate in surveys/inspections by government agencies.
• Join QA programs and medication-related committees to improve processes.
• Attend Care Plan meetings as needed.
• Pursue continuing education to stay current and maintain certification.
• Follow safety precautions and report hazards.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living per Care Plans.
• Maintain residents' dignity and safety.
• Collaborate with staff, residents, families, and visitors.
• Coordinate with resident care coordinator/Administrator on resident needs.
• Arrange coverage for call-ins for direct care staff.
• Keep schedules updated with changes.
• Ensure staff training is current and documented.
• Monitor hallways and activity.
• Lead staff orientation and supervision on shifts.
• Assist new residents with orientation.
• Maintain overall well-being of residents.
• Greet visitors and accompany them as needed.
• Conduct facility tours as required.
• Know and apply safety, fire, OSHA and emergency procedures.
• Listen to concerns and report to Administrator.
• Ensure prompt staff response to call lights/alarms.
• Ensure care plans are properly implemented.
• Store medications properly.
• Maintain partnerships with physicians and pharmacists.
• Report complaints to Administrator.
• Support resident dignity and rights.
• Be aware of residents' rights and assist accordingly.
• Notify Director of neglect/abuse concerns.
• Comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.
