Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA and reading engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in MS Office; strong communication and problem solving.
  • Experience with conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer equipment issues quickly and practically.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance on automated equipment onsite.
  • Maintain conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Optimize automation performance to meet KPIs; interface with the customer as needed.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and collaborate with Lifetime Services team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Resident Automation Technician II supports our customer on all automation-related topics. This position requires a broad-based electrical and mechanical skillset and a proactive approach to improve the site’s performance through trouble-shooting and hands-on repair. Based at our customer sites, the Resident Automation Technician II must represent the TGW image and ensure that a professional relationship with the client is developed and maintained.

This position is onsite at our customer location in Aurora, IL

Shift: Friday-Monday 4:00p - 3:00a

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible.
  • Complete work assignments and the associated work orders as assigned.
  • Complete maintenance activities pertaining to the automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems.
  • Adhere to the highest quality standards, while always ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Optimize automation efficiency and performance to ensure delivery of contracted KPIs. Interface with the customer as needed to support operations.
  • Monitor and maintain the site spare parts inventory, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or Technical Certificate preferred.

Experience: Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, or related environments.

Skills & Abilities
  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics.
  • Thorough attention to detail and demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and repairing material-handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems preferred.
  • Experience with Profibus and Profinet preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk around industrial and/or warehouse environment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices.
  • Visual and auditory abilities to work safely with and around moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts, and electricity that require safety protocols
  • Ability to move and use muscles for extended periods of time without fatigue.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Ability to communicate regularly with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
