Job summary

The Sanctuary of West St Paul in West Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide personal care and health care support to residents in an assisted living and memory care setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility, plus medication support under RN direction. This casual/on-call role requires a flexible schedule and a dedication to dignity, integrity, service, compassion and innovation.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of caregiving experience.
• Ability to use technology (computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines).
• If under 18, must be on MN NA registry and site must manage restrictions on medications/mechanical lifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding).
• Support 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift.
• Provide health-related services under RN direction (glucose monitoring, meds assistance).
• Deliver meals and assist with meal service in dining room.
• Observe residents and report changes to staff; respond to emergencies.

One of Ebenezer’s newest managed properties and destined to be one of West St. Paul’s premier senior living communities, we offer both Assisted Living and Memory Care. We are conveniently located near Interstate 494 and Highway 52 and public transportation in West St. Paul, MN.

The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional wellbeing.

This Caregiver schedule includes;

• Casual / On Call
  • Minimum requirement of 3 shifts per month, 2 of which fall on a weekend, and 1 holiday per year

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:
  • Bathing/showering
  • Foot and fingernail care
  • Shaving
  • Dressing
  • Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses
  • Hair care
  • Feeding
  • Toileting
  • Escorts
  • 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift
  • Provides health-related services as directed: Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)
  • Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections). Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse
• Performs specified home services:
  • Performs laundry service per schedule.
  • Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.
  • Delivers meal trays.
  • Assists with meal service in dining room.
  • Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
• Observes tenants/residents and reports status to appropriate staff.
• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.
• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment
• Offers pertinent observations and input.
• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.

Required Qualifications

• If under 18 must be on the MN NA registry and site must be able to manage restrictions that they are not able to pass medications or operate a mechanical lift independently.
