Job summary

Great Lakes Management seeks a Resident Assistant to provide hands-on care and emotional support to residents in a caring, collaborative setting. You will assist with daily activities, participate in dining and activities, and help ensure each resident maintains dignity and independence.

The role emphasizes effective communication with residents and families, documentation, and coordination with the care team.

Qualifications

• Experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred.
• Current Nursing Assistant or CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to make responsible choices and act in residents' best interests.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ADLs as indicated on the service agreement.
• Help residents reach and maintain the highest level of independence.
• Provide residents with physical and emotional support.
• Assist with treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
• Observe changes in physical or emotional condition and report to the case manager.
• Interact with residents to provide reassurance and engagement.
• Complete required daily documentation and scheduling.

Resident Assistant Job Objective(s):

The Resident Assistant is responsible for providing hands-on care, both physical and emotional, as outlined in each resident’s service agreement. Responsible for effectively communicating with residents, families, and notifying the case manager of any changes in condition or concerns. The Resident Assistant assists in the dining room and participating in activities and outings.

Resident Assistant Job Responsibilities:

• Assistresidents with ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) asindicatedon the individualized service agreement


• Help each resident to reach andmaintainthe highest level of performance and independence.


• Provide residents with both physical and emotional support.


• Assistwith treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse per the resident service agreement


• The Resident Assistantobservesclientsand reportschanges in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc.tothe casemanager.


• Interactwith residents to provide reassurance, engagement, and redirection as appropriate.


• Complete all required documentation daily, service schedule, flow sheet, communication book, etc.

Qualifications:

• Six months of experience in long term care or assisted living residence (Preferred)


• Registered as a Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aid or Certified Nursing Assistant (Preferred)


• Ability to make responsible choices and decisions and act in the resident’s best interests.
