Job summary

PACS is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in delivering a creative, interactive activities program that meets residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial needs. Responsibilities include planning and conducting activities, coordinating communication among staff, residents, families, and external agencies, and helping maintain attendance and care plans.

The role involves scheduling monthly activities, arranging transportation, and encouraging resident participation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and conducting of individual, small and large group activities.
• Assist in providing good communication between employees, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public.
• Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the residents.
• Assist in development of monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
• Assist the Activity Director in developing and implementing action plans to address quality deficiencies.
• Participate in discharge planning and resident assessments.
• Arrange transportation for residents when necessary, including outings and appointments.
• Develop monthly activity schedules including outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound residents.
• Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities and provide necessary materials.
