Job summary

Riverside Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated Activity Therapist to plan, organize and direct the development and evaluation of activity programs for residents. You will ensure personalized, individual plans are created and implemented to meet each resident’s interests, physical, mental and psychosocial needs.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years in a health care setting.
• Completion and certificate of a State approved Activity Therapy Training Program.
• Willingness to participate in continuing education and understanding of health-related problems and aging.
• Must work well with all residents and their families.
• Certificate or diploma as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, executes and evaluates a diversified activity program meeting varied resident needs and interests.
• Supervises, trains and evaluates Activities Assistants and volunteers.
• Ensures activity plans align with Plan of Care established by residents and interdisciplinary team.
• Maintains documentation according to Medicare/Medicaid certification standards.
• Participates in resident care conferences.
• Identifies and uses community resources aligned with resident needs.
• Coordinates staff related to the activity program and provides directions and feedback.
• Recruit community volunteers for resident activities and supervise their involvement.
• Performs daily rounds to assess resident satisfaction and comfort with the services provided.
