Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years experience in a social or recreational program in the last five years, one of which was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification preferred.
• Meets all state-specific requirements.
• Proficient in using a personal computer.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, hires, provides orientation/training, and retains staff for the Activities department.
• Completes assessments, MDS, care plans and designs activities to meet patients' needs.
• Provides in-room activities for confined residents and connects with interests.
• Escorts patients to and from activities.
• Maintains activity supplies.
• Coordinates Resident Council.
• Posts monthly activity calendars reflecting schedules, rights, culture, and diversity.
• Records progress notes in the clinical record and reviews chart entries.
• Coordinates facility volunteer program.
• Completes forms and documents per policy and regulations.

Skills

Two years experience in social program

Proficient in personal computer use

Education

Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification preferred
