Job summary

PruittHealth in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a part-time Recreation Services staff member to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, and spiritual programs aligned with residents’ care plans. Duties include assessments, scheduling, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to promote residents’ well-being.

The role requires minimum two years of college in relevant fields and two years of experience in recreational programs, including healthcare.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of college education in recreation, education, social work or related behavioral sciences.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year full-time in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments and gathers information by interviewing residents, families, and representatives to develop individualized recreation programs.
• Updates recreational programs to accommodate needs, preferences and residents’ rights.
• Works with the interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate the care plan, and communicates responses to the team.
• Schedules activities to fit residents' hours (morning, afternoon, evening, weekend) and posts the monthly calendar.
• Provides activities to residents confined to rooms reflecting life-long interests and supports independent or staff-assisted work.
• Delivers structured activities for cognitively impaired residents with adaptations for participation.
• Ensures residents are informed of activities, staff participation is encouraged, and transportation is provided.
• Records progress notes in the clinical record and audits chart entries for completeness and accuracy.
• Performs quality assurance rounds and identifies performance issues with corrective actions.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies to reflect facility philosophy and regulatory standards.
• Communicates daily with the Nursing Home Administrator about care, staffing and budget needs.
• Assists in budgeting for the department and provides financial information as needed.
