Job summary

MediLodge Sterling is seeking a Resident Activity Assistant to organize and participate in person-specific activity programming, including one-to-one intervention, small group facilitation and large group presentations. You will document individual participation and outcomes in the medical record.

Key duties include assisting the activity director, using the environment to provide comfort and stimulation, fostering community, leading activities, and coordinating calendars and events with support

Qualifications

• Demonstrated willingness to learn new modalities and approaches.
• Good listener and ability to build rapport with residents and families.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with end-of-life issues.

Responsibilities

• Assists the resident activity director as needed.
• Utilizes the environment to provide both comfort and stimulation to the resident population.
• Fosters a sense of community within the center environment.
• Leads and participates in individual and group activities.
• Utilizes models such as pet therapy, music therapy, and art therapy to achieve programming goals.
• Assists with decorating the facility and preparing for special events and seasonal parties.
• Develops and posts monthly calendars for residents and families.
• Participates in recreational programs for residents in their rooms.
• Promotes volunteer efforts in the community.
• Maintains records of activities and attendance.
• Stores activity equipment and cleans area after conclusion of activity.
• Supports resident well-being using a biopsychosocial approach.
• Provides comfort and support to residents and families when needed.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
