Job summary

The University of Houston is seeking a Department Administrator for Student Housing & Res Life to manage administrative processes such as room assignments, room changes, contracts, student files, key control and work orders.

You will lead administrative staff and student assistants, plan programs for student staff, respond to emergencies, enforce university policies, counsel students, and coordinate with other departments to offer leadership opportunities while maintaining regular office hours

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and training.
• Minimum 1 year of directly job-related experience; 3 years preferred.
• Education in lieu of experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Manage administrative processes for the facility: room assignments, changes, contracts, files, key control, and work orders.
• Select, train, supervise, and evaluate administrative staff and student assistants.
• Plan and evaluate programs and educational/community initiatives for student staff.
• Be on-call for emergencies and manage duty rotation for campus student population.
• Enforce Residential Life & Housing and university policies and procedures.
• Counsel students on conduct, safety, sanitation, or behavior improvement.
• Develop student leadership through training and mentoring of hall/floor councils.
• Maintain daily office hours and high visibility at department/university events.
• Coordinate with other departments to provide student leadership and educational opportunities.
