Job summary

Washington & Jefferson College is seeking a Residence Life Coordinator to lead student staff recruitment and development within campus housing. You will supervise a team of Resident Assistants and coordinate training, outreach, and daily housing operations to support a respectful, inclusive living-learning environment.

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, Counseling, Education, or closely related field is required.
  • 1+ year of experience in a full-time professional live-in/on role within college/university housing is highly preferred; or 2+ years of Graduate Assistant/undergraduate RA experience.

  • Provides leadership for housing initiatives including move-in, winter closing, spring opening, and year-end closing.
  • Supervises and trains a staff of Resident Assistants to connect with every member of their residential community.

Residence Life Coordinator for Student Staff Recruitment & Development

Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs) at Washington & Jefferson College are student-centered professional staff members within the Office of Residence Life that are responsible for fostering a supportive, inclusive, and learning focused experience within campus residence halls. Residence Life Coordinators report to the Director of Residence Life and work collaboratively to achieve a wide range of departmental, divisional, and institutional goals through direct service to students living on campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Residence Life Coordinators are responsible for the following core duties at Washington & Jefferson College:

  • Oversees the daily housing operation of campus residence halls within a defined area of campus.
  • Provides leadership to and facilitates major campus housing initiatives including move in, winter hall closing, spring se mester hall opening, and end of the academic year closing.
  • Supervises and trains a staff of Resident Assistants (RA) with a primary focus on ensuring that each RA is connected to every member of their respective residential community.
  • Implements the Residential Learning & Engagement Framework within the defined campus housing area and through department wide programs.
  • Provides a high level of direct support to students and collaborates with faculty and staff to make appropriate referrals while using appropriate communication and documentation tools (Prez Pathways, Maxient, CARE team referral).
  • Facilitates weekly RA staff team and one-to-one meetings.
  • Serves as a member of the Administrator On-Call team that responds to urgent and emergency student needs on campus.
  • Supports the Office of Community Standards by serving as a hearing officer for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additionally, this professional is positioned to make a lasting impact on students through the recruitment and development of a talented and diverse campus RA staff team at Washington Jefferson College. This is accomplished by:

  • Developing and executing a marketing and communication plan for the recruitment of Resident Assistant Staff.
  • Wo rking directly with the Residence Life Team to build the selection processes for student staff within the Office of Residence Life.
  • Identifying key learning outcomes, goal and objectives for student staff training within the Office of Residence Life.
  • Planning and coordinating all aspects of student staff training within the Office of Residence Life.
  • Creating a meaningful recognition program for student staff within the Office of Residence Life.

Qualifications

Education & Professional Experience
  • A master's degree in Higher Education Administration College Student Development, Counseling , Education, or a closely related field is required.
  • l+ year of experience working in a full-time professional live-in/on role within college/university housing is highly preferred. Alternatively, 2+ years of Graduate assistant experience and/or undergraduate resident assistant experience .
