JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Residence Life Office at Berks seeks a dynamic individual to join the team. We aim to develop a safe, inclusive living-learning community that promotes academic, social, cultural, and personal growth, encouraging residents to develop respect and responsibility for themselves and their community.

The Live-On Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the department's vision and mission. Reporting to an Assistant Director, they supervise up to 12 Resident Assistants and oversee daily operations in buildings housing up to 400 students. Responsibilities include:

Supervision:
  • Supervises Resident Assistants
  • Conducts regular supervision meetings
  • Evaluates Resident Assistant performance
  • Provides support and training for Resident Assistants
Student Development and Residence Education:
  • Assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating residential curriculum
  • Supports campus-wide initiatives
  • Advises student groups
  • Makes referrals to university agencies
  • Encourages student involvement and promotes area government
  • Advocates for students and communicates concerns
  • Advises students on academic, career, and personal issues
  • Enforces university and residence hall policies
  • Mediates student conflicts
Administration:
  • Supports daily operations and organization
  • Handles room change requests and contract releases
  • Promotes safety and security
  • Builds relationships with university departments
  • Provides on-call coverage, including holidays and breaks
Community Development:
  • Demonstrates commitment to student life quality
  • Encourages Resident Assistants to connect with students
  • Develops positive living environments
  • Commits to diversity and social justice
  • Implements curriculum with staff and students
  • Supports staff and student retention and recruitment, especially for underrepresented groups
Miscellaneous:
  • Participates in committees
  • Assists with staff recruitment and training
  • Develops goals for the area and residence system
  • Performs other duties as assigned

This position is classified as a Residential Education Specialist Professional or Intermediate Professional, depending on experience and education. A Bachelor's Degree is required for the Professional level. Higher levels require additional education/experience.

This role requires background checks (Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse, FBI) and operation of a motor vehicle with a valid license.

The position is a live-in, 10-month or 83.3% FTE role, with full benefits. Start date is mid-July.
