Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Previous residence life or housing experience.
• Previous student staff supervision experience.
• Thorough knowledge of student development, student leadership and community development theories.
• Strong oral and written communication and critical thinking skills.
• Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll’s mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a residential community of approximately 550 students in 1–2 halls.
• Oversee programming initiatives and student activities within the residential area.
• Supervise 8–15 resident assistants (RAs), including 1–2 Senior RAs, and evaluate performance.
• Assist with RA recruitment, selection, and training processes.
• Manage budget lines for community building, programming, and staff development.
• Provide on-call coverage and support after-hours processes to ensure student safety.
