Job summary

Vermont Catholic Schools Office Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington, Vermont seeks a dedicated Residence Hall Dorm Parent for the 10-month residential position. You will live in the dorm, supervise students, ensure safety, coordinate with the nurse, and support a positive campus culture.

The role requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends; prior experience in residential life or youth mentorship is preferred.

Qualifications

• Maturity, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Capacity to remain calm and effective in emergencies.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, breaks and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record preferred, 25+.
• Experience with residential life, education, or youth mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Live in the residence hall during the academic year.
• Work three nights a week across various shifts.
• Build an inclusive dormitory culture and supervise students.
• Perform safety and wellness checks with the school nurse.
• Provide first aid or coordinate medical care as needed.
• Enforce boarding program rules and routines.
• Manage duties on duty (phones, forms, attendance, filing).
• Support student events, activities, and outings.
• Assist with shuttle bus duties as scheduled.
• Conduct routine room visits and study hall checks.
• Foster hospitable, culturally respectful environment.
• Support students’ social and emotional development.
• Coordinate dorm community events with the director of residential life.
