About the Role

Our client, an active participant in the Oil & Gas exploration and production sector, is looking for a skilled Reservoir Geologist to join their team in Welkom. This role is integral to understanding and defining subsurface reservoir characteristics, which is crucial for effective field development and production optimization. The Reservoir Geologist will be responsible for integrating geological, petrophysical, and engineering data to build detailed reservoir models and support production planning. This position requires a strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and petrophysics, as well as proficiency in relevant geological modeling software. The successful candidate will work closely with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and drilling teams to provide essential geological insights. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical professional eager to contribute to the success of our client's operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data, including core samples, well logs, and seismic information, to characterize reservoir properties.
• Develop and update detailed 3D geological models of reservoirs, incorporating petrophysical and engineering data.
• Perform sedimentological and stratigraphic analysis to understand reservoir heterogeneity and depositional environments.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers to forecast reservoir performance and identify opportunities for improved oil recovery.
• Assist in the planning and evaluation of drilling programs from a geological perspective.
• Prepare geological reports, cross-sections, and maps to communicate reservoir understanding.
• Work with petrophysicists to ensure quality control and interpretation of log data.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology, with a specialization in Sedimentology or Reservoir Geology.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Reservoir Geologist in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience in well log interpretation, core analysis, and geological modeling.
• Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and reservoir characterization techniques.
• Familiarity with petrophysical analysis and concepts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in carbonate and/or clastic reservoir characterization is advantageous.
