About the Role

Our client, a significant entity in the exploration and production sector of the Oil & Gas industry, is looking for a talented Senior Geoscientist to enhance their subsurface interpretation capabilities in Paarl, Western Cape . This hybrid role focuses on integrating seismic, well log, and geological data to build detailed subsurface models and identify potential hydrocarbon plays. You will be a key contributor to exploration and appraisal campaigns, providing critical insights into geological structures and reservoir characteristics. We are seeking an experienced professional with advanced interpretation skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to delineate geological structures and identify potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Integrate well log, core, and geological data with seismic interpretations to build comprehensive subsurface models.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration, appraisal, and development projects.
• Contribute to prospect evaluation, risk assessment, and volumetric calculations.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling engineers to support project objectives.
• Prepare clear and concise geological reports, presentations, and maps for technical and management audiences.
• Utilize advanced interpretation software and workflows to optimize data analysis.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and share geological knowledge within the team.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in seismic interpretation and geoscience.
• Participate in data room evaluations for potential new ventures.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in seismic interpretation and subsurface modelling within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Experience with prospect generation and evaluation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex geological concepts.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and manage project timelines.
• Familiarity with petrophysical analysis and data management is advantageous.
• Must be able to work from the Paarl, Western Cape office as required by the hybrid schedule.
