About the Role

Our client, a significant entity in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a skilled Geoscientist specializing in Subsurface Interpretation to join their team in Welkom, Free State. This role is integral to the exploration and development efforts, focusing on the analysis and interpretation of geological and geophysical data to identify and evaluate hydrocarbon prospects. The position involves a hybrid work model, blending remote analysis capabilities with essential on-site collaboration and project meetings. You will work closely with reservoir engineers, geologists, and drilling teams to provide critical subsurface insights that guide exploration strategies and development planning. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, and core data to build and refine geological models.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reservoir targets.
• Utilize advanced geological and geophysical software for data analysis and interpretation.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers on reservoir characterization and performance analysis.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and contribute to prospect generation.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in subsurface interpretation, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, HampsonRussell).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Experience with well log analysis and integration of different geoscience data types.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities for a hybrid work environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
