Job summary

The University of Washington seeks a Research Technologist 2 in the Biology Department to support DNA extraction, sequencing, and genomic data analysis, with emphasis on linking plant evolutionary history to the Andean environment.

The position includes wet lab work, computational analyses, occasional fieldwork, and lab-management duties, reporting to Dr. Carrie Tribble, with the goal of producing reproducible data and contributing to ongoing research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Botany, or related field.
• One year of research experience equivalent to Research Technologist I or one year of post-baccalaureate work in a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to follow laboratory protocols accurately and maintain detailed records.
• Experience analyzing biological data using computational tools and solvent to learn bioinformatic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Wet lab work including DNA extractions and DNA quantification (20%).
• Bioinformatic analysis and data processing (65%).
• Fieldwork optional (5%).
• Lab management support including purchasing and coordinating lab safety (10%).
