Job summary

The David Lab at Duke University is recruiting a Laboratory Research Analyst II to advance DNA sequencing methods for dietary reconstruction and microbiome profiling. You will translate complex genomic analyses into publication-quality manuscripts, progress reports, and technical documents while shaping experimental and analytical plans with the PI.

We value independent judgment, rigorous writing, and the ability to synthesize findings across concurrent studies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life-science or related field plus four years of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical and scientific writing ability; provide a writing sample.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting research data; background in genomics, the gut microbiome, or nutrition preferred.
  • Experience with AI workflows (LLM-based tools) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory findings for publication and progress reports.
  • Draft and edit technical writing for manuscripts and proposals.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation of methods, analyses, and results.
  • Independently evaluate and interpret research data and prepare analyses.
  • Plan and review short-term and long-term experimental plans and analytical goals.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and ensure biospecimen compliance.
  • Mentor graduate students and coordinate experimental efforts among trainees.
