Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in NYC is seeking a Research Technician for the Philipp Niethammer Lab to support experiments on cellular stress responses and healing, using zebrafish and mammalian systems.

The role requires a biology degree with tissue culture and molecular biology experience, plus comfort with zebrafish work, meticulous record-keeping, and teamwork in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.
Comfort working with zebrafish larvae or adult specimens, including monitoring, behavioral scoring, genotyping, and tailfin amputation.

Responsibilities

Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as CRISPR screening, flow cytometry, sterile mammalian tissue culture, cellular transfection, molecular protein design and engineering, fluorescent imaging, tissue processing and embedding.
Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and autopsies, euthanasia, and nursery.
Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented environment.
