Job description

The Research Technician will support clinical research and implementation activities led by Drs. Laura Milko and Jonathan Berg. This role involves coordination across two key projects at UNC: the Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH) and Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS). The position is full-time, temporary, and equally split between PPMH and ABGS efforts, providing administrative, communication, operational, and research support for interdisciplinary teams advancing genomic medicine.

FTE Allocation: 50% ABGS and 50% PPMH

50% - Age-Based Genomic Screening (ABGS)

The RA will work primarily with Dr. Laura Milko on ABGS, emphasizing community outreach. Responsibilities include:

• Planning and preparing public genetics education events, designing outreach materials.
• Attending outreach events approximately once a month, sometimes on weekends.
• Managing and updating the ABGS website.
• Handling survey data using tools like Qualtrics and REDCap.
• Supporting the pilot launch in summer 2025 by coordinating clinical logistics and assisting participants with consent.
• Recruitment, enrollment, survey data collection, incentive tracking, and ensuring smooth study operations.

50% - Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH)

The RA will support PPMH initiatives with Program Manager Liz Hutchins, including:

• Managing internal communications and announcements.
• Coordinating team meetings: scheduling, agenda preparation, notetaking, and tracking action items.
• Maintaining the program website, records, repositories, and directories.
• Contributing to lab management duties such as website updates, inventory, and purchasing.
• Assisting with event planning and student programs.

Qualifications and Skills

Required: Demonstrated competencies relevant to the role.

Preferred:

• Coursework in public health, biomedical sciences, health administration, or related fields.
• Experience in coordinating research or clinical activities.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently.
• Familiarity with precision medicine, genomics, and community engagement (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Qualtrics, REDCap, and virtual collaboration tools.

Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
