Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform complex experimental procedures including growth of human endothelial cell cultures.
• Expose cultured cells to shear stress to mimic hemodynamic blood flow.
• Perform molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, qPCR, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq.
• Immunolabeling, immunoblotting, and confocal/high-content microscopy for cellular imaging.
• Transfect/infect cells with oligos and lentivirus for gain- and loss-of-function experiments.
• Refine experimental designs, draft SOPs, and document procedures clearly.
• Maintain records and communicate results to PI and team.
• Order supplies and support lab operations; calibrate equipment.

Research Technician III, Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Full-Time)

Position Highlights

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician III to support advanced laboratory operations with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will bring specialized expertise in culturing human endothelial cells and molecular biology techniques and will demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot independently and propose innovative solutions to experimental challenges.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform complex experimental procedures, including:

• Growth of human endothelial cell cultures in single and pooled cultures.
• Exposing cultured cells to shear stress to mimic hemodynamic blood flow.
• Performing molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, quantitative real-time PCR, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and other -seq assays including library preparation.
• Performing immunolabeling, immunoblotting, and confocal/high-content microscopy for cellular imaging.
• Transfect/infect cells with oligos and lentivirus in vitro for gain- and loss-of-function experiments.

Protocol Design and Refinements:

• With minimal supervisor guidance, refines, adapts, and makes decisions to switch experiment parameters in response to situational demands of experiments.
• Assists in preparing experimental designs, technical protocols and techniques, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Record-keeping, Analysis, and Presentations:

• Communicates effectively all aspects of experiments with PI or other lab members and collaborators.
• Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments, results, and enters data in laboratory databases and filesystems.
• Communicates with collaborating investigators and laboratories.
• Catalogs specimens and samples.
• Performs independent analysis and interpretation of data for investigator and team.

Operational Support:

• Orders and catalogs laboratory supplies and supports laboratory operations.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and related records.
• Operates and calibrates specialized scientific equipment including instruments for exposing cell cultures to fluid shear stress.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to maintain protocols, data, and samples organized with clear documentation recording how experiments were performed to ensure rigor and reproducibility.
• Ability to communicate clearly with all members of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Prior experience in experimental laboratory work, mammalian cell culture, buffer and reagent preparation, and sterile technique.
