Responsibilities

Instrument operation and sample preparation

  • Prepare samples for the Light and Electron Microscopy for both internal user and external user projects. Training will be provided.
  • Run samples for internal and external users on microscopes.
  • Implement protocols for microscopy analysis developed by the AMIC lab manager.
  • Develop and modify microscopy methods for projects under supervision.
  • Perform data analysis as required for user projects.
  • Troubleshoot projects as needed and execute projects in a timely manner.
  • Assist with management of quotes and orders in the Stratocore billing system for user projects.
  • Collect and log complex project data in AMIC's data system.

General lab maintenance:

  • Conduct routine lab safety checks.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and samples.
  • Order and receive lab supplies.
  • Other duties as defined by the supervisor.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cell Biology, Microbiology or related scientific fields

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of laboratory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of Light and Electron Microscopy.
  • Experience of working on hazardous chemicals and understanding of laboratory and radiation safety.
  • Ability to interpret results and translate into recommendations.
  • Ability to compile analyzed data into a report.
  • Basic communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with office computer operations and software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in microscopy.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience in Electron Microscopy sample preparation and experience in using the confocal and electron microscopes.
  • Experience with image analysis software, such as ImageJ, Photoshop, etc.
