Job description

Are you passionate about psychological research and eager to gain experience in a lab environment? The Research and Interventions for Stress-related Conditions (RISC) Lab at Texas A&M University is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented research assistant to join our team.

In this multifaceted role, you’ll play an integral part in our research operations—scheduling participant visits, training undergraduate research assistants, and collecting and processing both electroencephalography (EEG) and peripheral psychophysiological data. You’ll also play a key role in managing ecological momentary assessment (EMA) data, from collection to cleaning and processing. Beyond data, you’ll collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator on IRB submissions, data management, and the day-to-day coordination of lab activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain extensive training in EEG and EMA methodologies, with potential for additional training in clinical interviewing. You’ll also have the chance to contribute to federal grant submissions, making this an ideal position for someone looking to build a strong foundation in research. If you're ready to grow your skills, we’d love to hear from you!

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Assist the Principal Investigator with data collection through in-person and virtual modalities, neurophysiological, behavioral, and self-reported data with healthy adults and adults experiencing psychopathology (e.g., posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, substance use).
  • Clean, process, and score EEG, behavioral, peripheral psychophysiological (e.g., heart rate, skin conductance), and self-report (e.g., EMA) data.
  • Assist with constructing and maintaining datasets for statistical analysis.
  • Collaborate with PI and graduate students to organize data storage and sharing.
  • Schedule participants for interviews and lab visits.
  • Respond to emails, make copies, answer phone calls, conduct phone screenings for participant recruitment.
  • May learn to apply statistical analysis and scientific writing.

Salary: Commensurate based on selected candidate’s education and experience.

Location: Onsite position at our College Station, Texas location

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma AND 2 years of relevant experience

A well-qualified candidate will also possess:

  • Prior experience in a research role (e.g., research assistant)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, EEG equipment (Brain Vision Analyzer/Recorder, Eprime), R studio, SPSS, and/or EMA software (illumivu)
