Job summary

Dow in Lake Jackson, TX is seeking a Research Scientist to join a high‑performing R&D team focused on gas treating and carbon capture. The role involves process modeling, technoeconomic analysis, and collaboration with multi-functional teams to advance Dow’s energy platform.

The candidate will engage in lab work, pilot facilities, and external publications, with opportunities for IP development and cross‑regional impact.

Qualifications

BS in Chemical/ Petroleum/ Process/ Energy/ Environmental Engineering or similar; PhD preferred.
3+ years industry experience; 5+ preferred.
US work eligibility; no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

Model chemical processes for gas treating plant design using amines and glycols.
Develop expertise in gas treating simulations with ProComp and commercial tools.
Perform technoeconomic analyses including CAPEX/OPEX estimation.
Create process design packages per established engineering practice.
Collaborate with R&D, sales, marketing, and technical teams.
Work with lab teams on properties and pilot plant activities.
Monitor market trends and support IP generation.
Document work in internal reports and publish externally.
