Job summary

Abbott in San Diego is seeking a Research Scientist to lead and contribute to R&D initiatives for diagnostic assays. You will design experiments, analyze data, and translate findings into product development, while mentoring junior team members.

The role requires managing multiple projects independently, communicating scientifically, and ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory standards. This is a 6-month, 100% onsite contract involving collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• PhD in a field related to essential duties; or Master’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of PhD; or Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of PhD.
• Experience designing and conducting complex experiments.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and scientific communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support research and development projects for diagnostic assay products.
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments to solve technical challenges.
• Interpret data and translate research findings into product development opportunities.
• Serve as a technical expert and mentor junior team members.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve scientific and business goals.
• Support process improvements and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
