Job summary

Abbott in La Jolla, CA is seeking an Associate Scientist for a 3-month contract to support day-to-day bench experiments under guidance from experienced scientists.

You will work in a team to translate research ideas into the product development pipeline, perform bench level experiments, generate data, and document results. You will communicate findings to the supervisor and collaborate to meet project objectives in a regulated lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Life Sciences or related field.
• Internship or equivalent experience in a laboratory setting.
• 1+ years of related experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Demonstrated ability to perform essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Participate in assay verification and validation study for new product version.
• Conduct bench level experiments within a specific product or technology area.
• Generate data; accurately record and analyze results of bench level experiments.
• Operate scientific instrumentation and report any problems.
• Maintain lab notebooks following ISO and QSR requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemical/Physical/Biological Science, or related field
