Job summary

Abbott is seeking an R&D Technician II for a 10-month, onsite role in San Diego, CA. The position involves lab-based research, equipment testing, and detailed documentation across mechanical and electro-mechanical domains.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree with 1–4 years of relevant experience and be able to work from engineering schematics and diaries while adhering to corporate policies. This role is 100% onsite and integrates into cross-functional project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 1-4 years of experience in engineering or related field.
• Solid ability to read schematics and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Performs research and lab functions including layout, building, testing, troubleshooting and modification of mechanical or electro-mechanical products.
• Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
• Performs tasks in electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.
• Assembles prototype materials and subassemblies.
• Operates, calibrates, tests and maintains equipment and systems.
• Works from schematics and written instructions; documents findings.
• Tests, analyzes data and writes reports; assists transfer of technology as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of mechanical or electro-mechanical materials, devices, assemblies, sub-assemblies, systems. and products.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
• Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.
• Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.
• Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, maintains and tests equipment, systems or products.
• Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
• Performs tests, analyzes data and writes reports
• Reviews or develops processing or manufacturing instructions.
• Maintains detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.
• May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations.
