Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

The selected candidate for the Research Scientist position willassist the PI and Co-PIs in the implementation of all research andeducation activities associated with the new InterdisciplinaryBiomedical Engineering Core ( IBEC ) facility at NC A& T. Inthis role, the Research Scientist will operate and maintain highend analytical instrumentation in the IBEC, facilitate training ofusers on the instruments, and assist users with the development ofexperimental workflow.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an1890 land-grant doctoral Research University dedicated to learning,discovery, and community engagement. The College of Science andTechnology enrolls over 2290 students. It is a national leader thatserves and engages the citizens of the state of North Carolina, thenation, and the world through preeminence in science and technologyeducation, research, discovery, and innovation. The College housesthe departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, BuiltEnvironment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematicsand Statistics, Physics, and the Ph.D. Program of Applied ScienceTechnology. The College is experiencing substantial growth inenrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research.

The Department of Biology’s core mission encompasses excellence inteaching, cutting-edge research, and meaningful service to bothstudents and the broader community. The Department of Biologycurrently has 24 full-time faculty members to support the teachingand research needs of our undergraduate and graduate students. Theundergraduate enrollment currently is over 835 Biology majors. TheMS graduate enrollment averages 15 students, and we train PhDstudents as part of the AST program in Applied Bioscience with anenrollment of 30 PhD students.

Minimum Requirements

A PhD in bioscience, genomics, biochemistry, or a relateddiscipline.
