The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs at NC A&T is a 12-month, tenure-track eligible role reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. This Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Affairs position is a12-month position that carries the rank of Associate Professor orProfessor. The Associate Dean will work both collaboratively andindependently while reporting to the Dean of the College of Arts,Humanities and Social Sciences. She/He will have leadershipexperience and demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projectseffectively and efficiently. She/He must be able to handleconfidential information in the strictest manner, and deal with aunique population of students, faculty and staff. The successfulcandidate must demonstrate energy, teamwork, cooperation, andgenuine interest and commitment for improving academic achievementof students in the College.
The duties and responsibilities for the Associate Dean forUndergraduate Student Affairs include but are not limited to:oversight of undergraduate curriculum planning, development andevaluation, and assessment of undergraduate programs;administration of academic advising and retention efforts;management of student complaints and grade appeals; working withthe Admissions Office in undergraduate recruitment and new studentorientation; working closely with the Office of Strategic Planningand Institutional Effectiveness ( OSPIE ) for assessments andstudent learning outcomes; and the management and organization ofstudent special events for the College.
Reporting to the Dean ofthe College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the positionwill assist departments in developing, implementing and evaluatingundergraduate curricula, enhancing existing curricula, and creatinginitiatives that significantly improve both faculty and studentquality in the College. Other responsibilities include, but are notlimited to, working closely with the College’s ProfessionalAcademic Advisor. The candidate is expected to provide Universityand College service as needed and conduct scholarly activities andany/all other activities required for tenure.
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences ( CAHSS )enrolls more than 2,000 students and has more than 200 facultymembers. CAHSS houses the Departments of English, Journalism andMass Communication, Liberal Studies, History and Political Science,Criminal Justice, and Visual and Performing Arts. The CAHSS Dean’sOffice has administrative oversight/responsibility for the sixacademic units and affiliated programs of the College, as well asfor its faculty & staff.

Ph.D. in a discipline/area of specialization suitable for a tenure-track appointment and at least ten years experience inhigher education, with requisite administrative/leadershipresponsibility.
The candidate should have experience in building and managingcomplex academic programs, curriculum design, accreditation andassessment, exceptional interpersonal skills, and an establishedrecord of scholarly achievement in his/her area of specialization.Additionally, the candidate should have excellent written andverbal communication skills and should be able to interface withstudents, faculty, staff and other administrative offices of theUniversity. The candidate should be able to work independently andalso be a successful team player in the unique setting that theCollege offers.
