Job summary

University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) seeks a skilled lab coordinator to oversee research activities in the Paustian IBD Center Mannon lab and clinical unit in Omaha. You will manage experiments, sample handling, data analysis, and equipment maintenance to support high-quality research outcomes.

You will assist in developing protocols with the PI, supervise laboratory staff, manage budgeting and safety programs, and ensure proper biobanking of human tissues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field is required.
  • Minimum of four years in a research lab including lab management and biobanking.
  • Experience with manuscript preparation is expected.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Biobanking Software experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides coordination of research activities in Paustian IBD Center Mannon lab and clinical unit.
  • Manages experiments, sample handling, data analysis/interpretation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Oversees collection, storage and annotation of the Biobank.
  • Assists with protocol development and regulatory documents with the PI, including supervision of staff and budgeting.
  • Maintains safety and inventory logs, coordinates with safety staff, and prepares annual safety reports.

Position Summary
  • Provides overall coordination of research activities in the Paustian IBD Center Mannon research lab and clinical research unit
  • Manages and conducts research activities for the Paustian IBD Center Mannon research lab which may include experimental design and execution, sample handling (collecting, processing, biobanking), data analysis/interpretation and ordering maintenance of laboratory supplies/equipment.
  • Manages and provides oversight to collection, storage and annotation of the Paustian IBD Center Biobank.
  • Responsible for assisting with developing protocols and regulatory documents in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, to include supervision of laboratory personnel and laboratory budget responsibilities.
  • Responsible for chemical and equipment inventory, maintaining safety and inventory logs, interfacing with UNMC and VA research safety staff, providing annual reports of lab safety, chemical and equipment tracking.
