Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a laboratory technician for Wake Forest University Health Sciences’ Academic WF Institute for Regen Medicine. The role performs standardized tests under supervision and guides lab staff, contributing to biological, chemical, and clinical research efforts.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in biology/chemistry or related science (or equivalent hands-on experience) and offers a 40-hour workweek in a full-time lab environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related science or 4 years of clinical/research experience.
• Ability to perform standardized lab tests and procedures.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts standardized chemical, physical, and biological tests.
• Performs micro-analysis, lipids analysis, enzyme studies, and chromatography on tissues and secretions.
• Sets up equipment and prepares materials for tests and experiments.
• Prepares simple charts, graphs, and reports from data.
• Isolates and identifies microorganisms using standard techniques.
• Trains graduate students and other staff in technical procedures.
• Collects tissues and specimens for analysis and prepares slides for examination.
• Reviews journals and publications for information relevant to projects.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work.
