Job summary

Advocate Health operates Wake Forest University Health Sciences - Academic Int Med: Molecular Medicine, seeking a laboratory technician to support NIH/NIAMS–funded research projects. The role involves cell culture, immunohistochemistry, Western blot, tissue preparation, and animal care under PI supervision.

The successful candidate will perform complex assays, prepare reagents, manage supplies, and train junior staff in a busy research lab environment in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological/physical sciences with two years related experience; Master’s preferred.
• Experience with PCR, immunohistochemistry, and Western Blot strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Consults with principal investigator and assists in planning experiments and data collection.
• Modifies lab procedures to meet project needs.
• Prepares detailed reports and discusses results with PI.
• Reviews journals and literature for procedures and supplementary information.
• Performs complex chemical, physical, and biological tests on samples.
• Monitors care of research animals and collects tissues per protocol.
• Supervises and trains students and junior staff.
