Job summary

University of Georgia in Athens, GA seeks a Lab Animal Care Tech I to join the Animal Resources team. You will perform daily animal care and husbandry in a research vivarium, including feeding, watering, cage maintenance and health observations, while following SOPs and safety protocols.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience; ability to handle multiple species and communicate professionally with researchers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Ability to perform routine husbandry and sanitation tasks following standard operating procedures.
• Ability to handle and care for multiple species of animals.
• Excellent observation skills and ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and researchers.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily animal care and husbandry duties for animals in a research vivarium; including feeding, watering, animal handling/transport, animal health checks, cage changing, providing enrichment and environmental monitoring.
• Cleans and sanitizes animal rooms, ancillary areas, primary enclosures and caging equipment; maintains supply inventories and performs minor maintenance tasks.
• Maintains essential records and logs; assists in quality assurance and SOP development; participates in training and safety programs; performs weekend/holiday duties as scheduled.
