Job summary

LAC Federal is seeking Information Specialists/Librarians to provide professional reference, research, information retrieval, and library services for a federal library serving corrections professionals, government agencies, students, and researchers.

The role includes independent research, user support, collection maintenance, and contributions to online resources and content. Travel, security clearance eligibility, and collaboration with library professionals are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library/Information Science (or similar) from an ALA-accredited institution, or Public Administration degree.
• Minimum three years of library, academic, or public administration experience.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent reference research and respond to information requests.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend authoritative research resources.
• Monitor corrections literature, policy developments, and emerging topics.
• Staff the public service desk and assist users with research and discovery.
• Maintain physical and electronic collections and digital resources.
