Job summary

Saint-Gobain Research North America is seeking an entry-level Research Engineer to join the Sustainable Materials and Processing Technologies team. You will conduct hands-on lab experiments focusing on polymeric materials, composites, construction materials, and sustainable materials.

You will design and conduct experiments, analyze outcomes, prepare presentations and reports, collaborate with colleagues, and apply problem-solving to advance projects. Up to 15% travel to plants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions from experimental data.
  • Demonstrated project management, teamwork, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at various levels.
  • Ability to move up to 30 lbs for samples, supplies or suitcases.
  • Experience in polymer science, composite materials, materials processing, experimental design (DOE), materials characterization, or statistical data analysis is preferred.

Job description

Saint-Gobain Research (SGR) North America is seeking a driven, talented, and energetic entry-level Research Engineer to join our Sustainable Materials and Processing Technologies team . In this role, you will conduct hands‑on laboratory experiments for key development programs, focusing on process and product development activities related to Saint‑Gobain's extensive product line. Research areas include polymeric materials, composites, construction materials and chemicals, sustainable materials, materials processing, and advanced characterization techniques.

As an entry‑level Research Engineer, you will:

  • Design and conduct lab experiments , produce lab‑scale samples, operate lab equipment, and analyze experimental outcomes under the direction of the group leader.
  • Conduct experiments to support both your primary projects and those led by others.
  • Utilize basic scientific or engineering principles and techniques to undertake specific tasks and projects with limited scope.
  • Take initiative in managing and documenting projects with appropriate supervision, and capture project progress and results in presentations and technical reports.
  • Demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility.
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn and apply new knowledge to enhance project outcomes.
  • Approach challenges with a problem‑solving mindset , identifying innovative solutions to technical issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and subject matter experts to enhance and streamline development activities.
  • Understand and incorporate Gate Process methodology/ideology in research projects.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related discipline
  • Demonstrated technical capability through academic projects, internships, co‑op experience, or research activities, including familiarity with statistical tools, data analysis, and drawing conclusions from experimental data.
  • Demonstrated project management, teamwork, and strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles.
  • Ability to work with colleagues at various levels.
  • Ability to develop an understanding of and adhere to company policies and organizational structure
  • Respectful communication and the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to move up to 30 lbs for samples, supplies or suitcases
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: polymer science, composite materials, materials processing, experimental design (DOE), materials characterization, or statistical data analysis is preferred.

Saint‑Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offerpotentialcandidates. Provided isthe national pay range for this position which is $72,500 to $111,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experienceamong other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9 % of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $79,025 to $121,535.. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.,
