Job summary

University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking a Research Development Professional to help researchers compete for external funding by providing strategy and proposal development support for large, multidisciplinary grants. The role requires coordinating across faculty, staff, and external partners, with in-person work on campus most days and occasional travel to the Twin Cities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated project leadership skills including being proactive, collaborative, and able to negotiate among multiple interests.
• Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
• Highly organized with significant attention to detail.
• Ability to achieve advanced- to expert-level proficiency in using Google Workspace tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement strategy and manage processes to develop winning proposals for forthcoming and active solicitations.
• Review and edit proposal narratives and supporting materials; track progress and completion of package elements.
• Conduct outreach and education to faculty and staff on research development resources and how to leverage them.
• Identify and evaluate potential research funding opportunities and perform horizon scanning and analysis.
• Provide consultation and training on proposal development strategies and tactics.
• Build relationships with researchers across the University and with potential partners to form teams for competitive responses; connect researchers across campuses.
