Job summary

University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) seeks a Research Development Professional to help scholars compete for external funding through strategy and proposal development for complex multidisciplinary grants. You’ll lead outreach to faculty and staff, build new RD systems, and influence cross-team collaboration across campuses.

As a member of the Research Development Office, you will work in-person most weeks and connect researchers to RIO/RDO services, traveling occasionally to the Twin Cities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated project leadership and collaboration.
• Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication.
• Highly organized with attention to detail.
• Experience with Google Workspace and willingness to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement strategy to develop winning proposals for forthcoming and active solicitations.
• Review and edit proposal narratives and track progress of proposal package elements.
• Conduct outreach and education to faculty and staff on UMN research development resources (including RDO).
• Identify and evaluate potential research funding opportunities and bring them to stakeholders.
• Provide consultation and training on proposal development strategies and tactics.
• Build relationships with researchers and faculty across the University to form cross-campus teams for competitive responses.
• Support and engage in RDO administrative and strategic planning activities.
