We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Research Data Analyst to join one of our clients in the Portland, OR area. Our client is a leading natural gas provider committed to delivering energy solutions. In this role, you will analyze residential energy consumption patterns, assess neighborhood-level energy needs, and provide data-driven insights to inform strategic planning and customer engagement initiatives.
Important Details:
This is a contract part-time role. The duration of this contract is expected for 6 months. This candidate will work part-time 20 hours a week. Pay rate is $45/hr and this candidate will primarily work from home with occasional days in office as needed to present data and findings.Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and analyze residential data, home specific data, energy usage data, demographic information, and neighborhood characteristics to identify consumption trends and patterns.
- Predictive Modeling: Develop and maintain models to forecast energy demand at the household and neighborhood levels, incorporating factors such as socioeconomic status, housing type, and seasonal variations.
- Reporting & Visualization: Create comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders, including senior management and operations teams.
- Program Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and evaluate energy efficiency programs tailored to residential customers, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Present complex data insights in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical audiences, facilitating informed decision-making.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably within the energy, utilities, or environmental sectors.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and Excel. Experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong statistical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Tools: Experience with machine learning algorithms and anomaly detection techniques applied to energy consumption data.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, smart meter data, and regulatory standards in the natural gas or utility industry.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in data analysis, energy management, or sustainability are advantageous.
