Job summary

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health seeks a Research Analyst to support projects on dementia, cognitive aging, and social epidemiology under Dr. Ruijia Chen. The role focuses on large healthcare datasets, especially Medicare claims, to build and validate dementia identification algorithms.

Ideal candidates will have strong R skills, experience with CMS data, and an interest in ADRD, causal inference, or related fields. Collaboration and independent project management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong programming experience in R.
  • Experience working with large administrative or healthcare datasets.
  • Excellent data management and statistical programming skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with Medicare claims, CMS data, or electronic health records.
  • Familiarity with dementia or Alzheimer's disease research.
  • Experience developing disease identification algorithms or prediction models.
  • Knowledge of longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, machine learning, or causal inference methods.
  • Experience using Git or other version control systems.
  • Previous experience contributing to peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities

  • Support research projects focused on dementia, cognitive aging, and social epidemiology.
  • Develop and validate dementia identification algorithms using Medicare claims data.
  • Collaborate with Dr. Ruijia Chen and research team to manage multiple projects.
  • Apply quantitative methods to aging, ADRD, social determinants of health, or causal inference.
