Job summary

Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a Research Assistant to support the NIH-funded HAALSA study focused on aging, cognition, and health disparities in South Africa.

The RA will handle data management, statistical analyses, and coordination across the HAALSA and HAALSA‑HCAP teams, with potential co-authorship on publications. The role emphasizes strong data skills, longitudinal analyses, and collaboration with international partners, under a hybrid work arrangement in Cambridge,

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with statistical software such as STATA (strongly preferred), R, SAS, or similar.
  • Experience with longitudinal data sets (e.g., HRS, SHARE) and complex data management.

Responsibilities

  • Process and organize data, create analytic datasets, generate summary statistics, and conduct basic regression analyses using STATA or similar software.
  • Support tracking of HAALSA and HAALSA‑HCAP project fieldwork progress and timelines.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of study protocols, training, document management, and data collection systems.
  • Prepare datasets and codebooks for public release, and score neuropsychological tests.
  • Collaborate with HAALSA investigators and South African counterparts; assist in preparing slides and manuscripts.
