UTHealth Houston Department of Surgery is hiring a Research Assistant to join their team. In this position, the Research Assistant should be familiar with previous clinical research studies. The RA will assist our research team with paperwork, regulatory compliance, and data entry. The RA will work with physicians and clinic staff on various clinical research studies.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of senior research staff, supports research activities including patient recruitment, laboratory experiments, informatics, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conducts research activities according to protocols, including patient screening, experiments, and data collection.
2. Maintains clean and safe laboratory and work areas.
3. Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data; updates records and databases.
4. Stays informed of new protocols and procedures.
5. Orders supplies as needed.
6. Coordinates work of lab technicians and assistants to ensure quality results.
7. Complies with all policies, rules, and regulations.
8. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

General knowledge of research fields; relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: None required.

Physical Requirements: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force; work may involve handling hazardous materials.

Security Sensitive: Yes, position may be security sensitive per Texas law.

Residency Requirement: Must reside and work in Texas.
