Research Assistant I/II, Casual - Children's Learning Institute

The Children’s Learning Institute at UTHealth Houston is dedicated to advancing learning and health outcomes for children through research-practice partnerships. Our efforts focus on applying research in child development and education to improve children’s learning.

This casual Research Assistant will support projects such as Accelerated Early Reading Outcomes (AERO) and Developing Talkers (Hablemos Juntos).

Position Summary

Responsible for supporting various projects related to research in child development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reliability status on coding analysis measures for projects.
  • Perform assessments with children, including psychological and educational evaluations, and manage research equipment.
  • Conduct observational evaluations in schools and classrooms focusing on cognitive readiness activities.
  • Handle data transfer, verification, entry, processing, management, and analysis.
  • Assist in recruiting subjects and obtaining informed consent, including parent meetings and home visits.
  • Serve as an intervention or coach in home or school settings, including training parents or teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects within 5 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Reliable transportation for travel across Texas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human development, biology, or relevant field; master’s preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, behavioral analysis, or research preferred.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Residency in Texas required.
