Position Information
Title: Research Assistant I (Position 053‑26, Full Time, Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm)
Salary Range: UGPP/E‑01 $25,736 – UGPP/E‑18 $45,360 per annum.
Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Agricultural Economist, the Research Assistant I will support and coordinate applied research, extension, and outreach activities under grant‑funded agribusiness projects. Responsibilities include:
- Assist with research design, data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
- Develop extension materials on agricultural economics and market expansion.
- Organize fieldwork, stakeholder meetings, training workshops, and community outreach.
- Ensure compliance with grant and institutional requirements, monitor project timelines, and support budget tracking and reporting.
- Provide leadership and professional collaboration with faculty, producers, community partners, and funding agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 90 college credits or 3 years of related work experience.
- Experience using financial management systems in educational institutions.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of agribusiness principles, agricultural economics, and local/regional food systems.
- Understanding of market analysis, cost‑of‑production budgeting, and value‑added product development.
- Familiarity with research design, survey development, and data collection methods (qualitative & quantitative).
- Experience with grant‑funded project administration and reporting.
- Ability to conduct data collection, cleaning, statistical analysis using Excel, SPSS, Stata, R, or similar.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Organizational and project management skills.
