Job summary

The University of Toledo is seeking a Laboratory Research Assistant to support translational research in physiology and pharmacology while assisting with lab management and record-keeping.

The role requires a BS in a related field, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team. Weekend work and animal-care experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS in biology, physiology, pharmacology, kinesiology, neuroscience, genetics, or related discipline required, MS preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in an organized fashion.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with investigators in a multidisciplinary academic setting.
  • Experience in rodent husbandry or veterinary care is useful but not required.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office. Experience using advanced Excel functions and data management.
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in animal care and laboratory activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in lab management and translational research activities.
  • Follow established protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with data collection and analysis.
  • Maintain animal colonies and assist with breeding; genotyping is a plus.
  • Some occasional weekend work may be required.

Job Description

Laboratory Research Assistant who is willing to help us in the labmanagement and participate in exciting translational research. Thisperson should have experience of routine laboratory techniques suchas cell culture, western blotting, PCR etc. Person should beexperienced in following the protocols and be familiar with MS-wordprocessing and data management. Experience of maintaining animalcolony, breeding and genoting is a plus. Some occasional weekendwork may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory research or technician experience desirable.
