Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Research Analyst to support R&D activities rooted in laboratory and field research. You will collect, prepare, and analyze samples and perform molecular testing to characterize microorganisms.

The role requires a marine biology background with at least 2 years of lab experience, strong documentation skills, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. FDA experience and toxin work are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marine biology or a related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in laboratory testing and analysis.
• Experience collecting environmental samples from marine environments.
• Ability to document laboratory activities, analyze data, and support development of technical reports.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust.
• Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.

What You Will Do:

• Conduct laboratory testing and analyses, including propagation, and molecular detection and/or characterization of microorganisms.
• Document laboratory analyses, procedures, results, and observations.
• Draft project reports and manuscripts for publication.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in marine biology or a related field, such as molecular biology, microbiology, biology, or biochemistry with a Minimum (2)+ years of experience.
• Experience conducting laboratory testing and analysis.
• Experience collecting environmental samples from marine environments.
• Ability to document laboratory activities, analyze data, and support development of technical reports.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust.
• Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
• Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• FDA experience.
• Experience extracting, purifying, and characterizing biological toxins.
• Experience propagating bacterial and eukaryotic microorganisms.
• Experience developing molecular assays to detect and/or identify bacterial species.
• Experience preparing RNA, DNA, and protein extractions for analyses.
• Experience performing molecular analyses using real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing, and/or next-generation sequencing.
• Experience performing bioinformatics analysis of DNA sequence data.

The annual salary range for this position is $56,000.00-$94,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
