Job summary

Creighton University in Omaha, NE seeks a Research Administration Manager to lead the Department of Surgery clinical research team. Working with the Chair of Surgery, you will supervise staff, manage operations, and ensure compliance across projects and IRB processes.

You will drive grant development, oversee dashboards and metrics, coordinate cross‑functional teams, and support faculty, residents, and students in research activities, programs, and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 4+ years related experience in research administration, grant management, or IRB.
• Knowledge of IRB submission process and federal grant regulations.
• Experience with grant submissions and management preferred.
• Prior people management, project management, and financial management preferred.
• Experience with policy and procedure development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, mentorship, and performance evaluation for Department of Surgery research staff in partnership with the Chair or Vice Chair.
• Lead operational activities for the department, including developing and maintaining research standards, processes, and workflows, onboarding materials, and expectation documents.
• Oversee departmental research portfolio, ensuring projects progress on schedule and comply with regulatory, ethical, and institutional standards; work with IRB.
• Contribute to growth in grant funding and national research.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary grant teams, collaborators, and institutional resources for large grant applications and post‑award implementation.
• Review, edit, and provide input into grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations.
• Facilitate partnerships between learners and faculty mentors; manage research interest groups and research development activities.
• Schedule resident research activities and engage stats/analytics teams.
